Potty Time

We have been working a little with Avery to go to the potty. I didn't want to get to much into it before we went on vacation. So I have been putting her on the potty in the mornining and before bath. I really was thinking that I was not even getting through to her at all. Tonight she looked at me and said "potty" very clearly. I said "Do you need to go to the potty?" She said"ya". I took her in there and she sat down a went pee pee. We jumped around and screamed and now she is eating chocolate. I love being a parent!!

4 days and counting!

I know it has been forever. I am apparently a terrible blogger. Oh well. Maybe I will have more time now that summer is about to start.
I did want to post a couple of pictures from Colton's baseball season. He did great, but he is now very glad it is over. I really like watching baseball so I hope that he wants to play again next year. He says he will never play again. I hope not. It is one sport I actually can keep up with and know all the rules:)
Also, within two days Colton started riding his bike with out training wheels. We went today and got him a new 16" bike and he loves it and does really well. I was kinda of sad cause he is not a baby anymore. He has independence:( I can't even imagine what it will be like in 11 years when he jumps into a car. It makes me very glad he is just riding a bike.(with a helmet!!
Well, I have to post some pics of Avery. She has really started to say words FINALLY!! She is a woman of few words but she can definitly hold her own:) We got her a tricycle today. She will have to grow into it. It said two years old but she doesn't even come close to touching the pedals.

I still cant figure out how to rearrange the pictures in a post. rrrhhhhh

Has it been that long?

Yes it has!! I know it has been forever since my last post. I think I may just post pictures of the last two months instead of one big long post with stories. However, I will not be posting them today because I can't seem to get them from my camera to the computer and Matthew is out of town(of course).

My little Colton has been real sick with double ear infections. He is going on day 7 with fever(101, 102). So far the antibiotics aren't working. Pray that he feels better. They are really hurting him and he CAN NOT hear hardly at all! If he is not any better by Thursday bac k to the doctor we go.

Got to go for now!!

Pray for baby Brian- update

Brian just came out of surgery. The doctors are very hopeful. We will know more when he wakes up(probably tomorrow morning) . Just pray he does well through the night.

I have a relative who just got the most horrific call of her life. Her baby the same age as Avery is in the hospital and may not make it. He was with his dad for the weekend when he fell off the bunkbed. He has severe trauma to his head. He is in surgery to relieve the pressure in his brain. Please pray for this little boy to completely recover!!!! I will keep you updated. We are praying for you baby boy!

mommy couldn't help

It is the worst feeling in the world to see your baby embarresed, upset with himself, and dissapointed. What is worse is not being able to help him.

At school for weeks the pre K has been practicing one song to sing in the Christmas program. He loved the song and sang it for me all the time. He kept telling about the end of the song and throwing chocolate. Tonight was the night of the big program. He was so excited for it to finally be here. The kids would go up, sing and dance while holding a stocking full of chocolate. He came out , spotted me immediately and gave me a little wave. They started the song and he did such a great job! I was so proud of him and he was proud of himself. At the end, he couldn't get the chocolate to come out of the stocking. He didn't get to throw any. He covered his eyes, looked at me and tried SO hard not to cry but the poor thing couldn't help it. I have been in his position a couple of times as a kid. I so knew what he felt like. I wanted to run up there and pull that chocolate out for him. I couldn't. It was hard. He cried walking off the stage. You want to protect your child from embarresment and disappointment as a parent. I could do nothing but console him. Tonight as I put him to bed I told him that he did good and I was proud of him. He said " I couldn't get the chocolate to come out" Poor guy! Growing up stinks! (for the mom too)

Avery sat so nicely through the hour long program. She watched a little. She had Colton's sticker book and she put stickers all over herself. She was a cutie . I wish I would have taken a picture:(

How time flies:(

I want to skip Thanksgiving for a post and talk about how time flies. Five years ago tonight , I very, very HUGE went in the hospital to have my precious baby boy. I was so clueless!! I went in the night before to "prepare" to be induced the next morning, the 10th of December. I remember that I wanted a Dr. Pepper so bad with my Subway sandwich. I had one and was scolded by all the nurses because that sugar and caffeine made Colton go nuts (should of known then that my child would be full of energy:)) The nurses had to keep coming in because he was moving so much they couldn't keep him on the monitor. The next morning seems like a blur, oh maybe because it was. The nurse turned the medication on and within minutes it was unbearable pain. Everyone thought that I was just a "baby" who couldn't take the pain. I remember Matthew saying that " you better get used to this cause it is going to take all day" Uh yeah, I kindly told him to leave the room. The nurses and Matthew soon realized that I was alot tougher than they had thought because I had dialated from a 1 to a 9 in about an hour with NO pain medication. I think the nurses felt really bad so they went ahead and gave me an epidural to hold me over until the doctor could get there. She barely made it. Colton Andrew Cogburn blessed this world at 12:00 noon on December 10th weighing in at 8 pounds even and 19 3/4 inches. Love at first sight! Here are a few pictures of that day.

It couldn't be five years ago! It feels just like yesterday. In honor of my sweet baby's fifth birthday I want to tell you my favorite (of course there is alot more) but my top 5 reasons why Colton is my "favorite little boy in the world"
1. At five years oldI have never seen a boy with a more kind and compassionate heart. He cares so much about people. He wants to be a super hero ( or fireman) when he grows up so that he can save people. He tells me everyday as I walk out the door to be careful. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Rowdy yes, but intentionally mean to someone no.

2. He is very sensitive. He doesn't like to see anyone upset period. He really doesn't want anyone to be upset with him.

3. He never meets a stranger! He has no fear of people. He will talk to anyone. He makes friends so easily. He will talk and play with everyone. He thinks everyone that he meets loves him and wants to hear what he has to say.Really once he starts talking everyone does love him. He has the gift of the gab. I have heard for years that he would be a preacher or a politician. I guess we will have to wait and see.

4. Boy has more energy than any one person I have ever known. Everything he does, he does it at 110 percent. The more tired he gets the more hyper he is. When he finally crashs he crashes hard. He sleeps at 11o percent too. Don't even think about waking him or you will hear his wrath ! Trust me let him sleep as long as he needs to:)

5. This is probably the one thing that Colton could teach alot of people. He loves life! He loves to go and do things, he is happy at home. He really is a happy guy and enjoys whatever he is doing at the moment. Everywhere he goes he makes people smile. You wont find him complaining about too much. He is pretty up for most everything except the shots. He is not a fan of getting shots. If we all had that attitude and love for life, the world would be a lot better place.

Colton, you have brought more to me than you will ever imagine. You have made me love more than I ever thought I could. I worry, think, and pray for you daily. I am so proud of the little person you have become. I am so thankful that I was blessed to become your mommy on Decemeber 10, 2003. Over the five years, you have brought so much happiness in my life. I will forever love you, Colton. Happy Birthday Baby Boy!!

Halloween- finally

I know two post in the same day. I told you I was going to catch you up on our lives. The kids and I made cupcakes on the day daddy left to cheer Colton up a little. They looked interesting but tasted good. Avery decided to eat hers like a puppy. Colton was the white whino wanger. (white rhino ranger) Avery was a flower. They were so cute. I took some pictures at the pumpkin patch. They were not in the mood( if you cant tell). On Halloween night we went to some friends Halloween party. All the kids had a blast! I had to add in an embarssing photo of my "pretty flower head husband". Ha that is what you get for being out of town.

Time to catch up

I know I am a terrible blogger but maybe I can catch you up on everything that has been going on. Matt took a new job so he has been doing alot of training out of town. I have been trying to do things on my own. Not so easy!

Colton finished his six game soccer season. He did great! He has fast little legs. He even scored a goal in one of his games. I was so proud of him. It almost made me cry to see his face after he scored, he was so happy! Here are some pictures of the season.

Future Fireman?

Colton has always loved fire trucks and fire men. We always have to talk about where the fire truck is going when we see one with its lights on. We talk about how they save people. He says "I want to help save people". So sweet. When we pass the fire station he looks hard at the trucks and always asks to go in there.
Well a couple of weeks ago his dream came true! Colton went on a field trip to the fire station with his class. We counted down the days until he got to go. Every morning he woke with" Is this the day we go?" The morning finally came and with no breakfast ( no time for breakfast - he could not be late to school that day) he headed off to school so excited about riding the yellow dog to the fire station. I was in school of course, but Matt met the class at he fire station. He said Colton was so loving every minute, listening, asking questions, and really taking it all in. I am going to post the pictures and you can see for yourself. To be honest, I think being a fireman is awesome but what a dangerous job for my boy! I am certainly glad we have brave men to keep us all safe. They are Colton's superheros!( them and spiderman of course).

blah blah

I know it has been a while but it has been the first few weeks of school and they are always so crazy! Avery and Colton love their new schools. They are so happy and so far keeping well!! Keep it up guys ! I have a cute little class. It looks like I am in for another good year.

We had a crazy weekend. We went to the Wylie Bulldog game Friday night. Avery didn't much care for it. We left right before half time. Colton loves the games. He was sad that he didn't catch a football. Saturday morning we got up and went to the West Texas Fair and Rodeo parade. Avery and Colton loved it. It was hot but we enjoyed it. Saturday afternoon we had a shower at my house for my cousin Kacey. Saturday night we went to the fair. We didn't stay long but we had a ton of fun. My sister and niece and nephew were with us. The kids had more fun at the petting zoo than anything. Although my niece, miss Kensay, loved the faris wheel. Colton said he liked the faris wheel but he looked a little terrified.

Change is coming to the Cogburn house. I HATE change. I would just be happy if things always stayed the same. At some point life has to change especially if you want things to be better. So I am going in to change with an open mind . I just have to pray and take a leap of faith. More details on this change later. Just a hint - no we are NOT having more babies and No we are not moving.

One last thing- I am loving the weather today. Do you think early and cool Fall?

One more last thing- Colton starts soccer again this week. He is so excited!
